This colloquium hopes to lay the foundations of a theoretical reflection at the international level with the goal of measuring the scope of the phenomenon of conversion of 20th-century hospital buildings and understand its numerous social, cultural and patrimonial consequences. At the same time it intends to study the strategies and processes of transformation. What are the methods and protocols for intervention in the dynamics of conversion? The papers will accent the architectural and urban project from the point of view of the specific problems posed by re-use of older hospital buildings, as well as the potential for adaptability and flexibility of the buildings with regard to societal and environmental changes.

10.20 a.m. Re-use, preserve, integrate contemporary architecture into historical contexts:

Presentation by Marc Warnery, architect, Reichen et Robert & Associés.
