The project for a new assisted-care facility with 325 beds is in the southern part of Lille on the western part of the Ilôt Saint-Antoine, bordered to the north by the Boulevard Victor Hugo and to the south by the Boulevard de Strasbourg.
It is the result of grouping the Marguerite Yourcenar and Notre Dame d'Espérance assisted-care facilities together on a single site. The project required demolition of the existing buildings. The new building will conserve a few elements of the architectural and urban heritage as a way of preserving the memory and symbolism of the place: The entry pavilion, the garden open to the street, and the main façade of the original elderly-care facility. The new building nestles behind the existing main façade and frames the historic space open on the Boulevard Victor Hugo.
- The entry pavilion, dominated by the statue of Saint Anthony of Padua, has been preserved and restored
- The façades around the entry garden have been partially preserved in order to set off the garden and its triangular shape, open on the street. The historic-heritage character of the Boulevard Victor Hugo will be respected by preserving and renovating the existing enclosure.
- The existing main entrance has been reused and becomes the main entrance of the new assisted-care facility, opening onto a ground-floor volume used for reception. The entire brick façade will be restored.
